Summary: Students who are interested in applying for Summer 2014 Open Grant Internship Funding must complete this online application for consideration. Students may ONLY apply to ONE internship funding source. Students must have secured an 8-10 week, full-time, summer internship to be eligible to apply for College funding. Two part-time internships are NOT eligible for funding. Grants are competitive and look for clarity in presentation, support from the sponsoring organization/agency/business, academic preparation and a link to the applicant's interest. These programs also call for well-defined responsibilities, originality, and uniqueness of the internship opportunity. The stipend amount awarded is based on a student-generated budget that outlines various transportation, housing, and food expenses expected to be incurred while completing the internship. All funding decisions will be determined by the first week of May, 2014. Detailed instructions and access to information about the required application documents are available on the CLS Internship Summer Funding webpage, which includes: Resume (reviewed by at the CLS is highly recommended); Confirmation of Intern Acceptance Form (completed by the student's Internship Supervisor); Proposed Budget Form (form provided must be used); Unofficial transcript (obtained from PioneerWeb); and Name and e-mail address for two Grinnell College faculty members who will complete a recommendation form on the student's behalf. The student will enter the faculty member's e-mail addresses into the online application and once the student has submitted his/her online application, an e-mail will be sent to the faculty members with instructions of how to complete the form and upload it into the student's application. Only complete applications received by the deadline will be forwarded to the selection committee for review. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 9th at 11:59p.m. The application will no longer be accessible after the deadline, so plan on submitting your application well in advance of the deadline. Qualifications: Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time as a First-year, Second-year, or Third-year Grinnell College student. Applicants must be in good academic standing. Applicants must have a current GPA of at least 2.50. Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student during the Fall 2014 semester either on campus or participating on an approved Grinnell College OCS program. Students on leave from the College during the Spring 2014 semester are ineligible to apply for internship funding.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
